Saudi Arabia? Is that 7k miles away? I'm sure that's what he meant... because the President wouldn't be trying to imply again that a country that had NOTHING to do with the attacks on 9/11 was somehow involved. No, he wouldn't actually lie to the American public and the world at large.

Saudia Arabia is a successful oppressive state, the failed and oppresive state he was mentioning was Afganistan which was at the time the center of operations for Al-Queda.

Saudia Arabia is an interesting problem in it's own right, but not one that we are going to have to really deal with until after their Islamic revolution.

The world is an interesting place.

"Dictatorships shelter terrorists, and feed resentment and radicalism, and seek weapons of mass destruction."

You'd hope he was talking about Afganistan... but oddly it doesn't look like it.

If you were to redact the speech, blotting out all lies, all empty rhetoric and all attempts to conceal his actual policy stances by stating initiatives that are in direct opposition to what he has done so far the speech would look more like this:

"Good evening America,
Thank you, goodnight."

I came to the stark realization a few years back that it's better if he's lying because at least he knows the truth and he's just trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the ignorant. If he actually believed there was a connection between Iraq and 9/11 after all the contrary evidence, that would be altogether worse. Sad commentary but that's the way I cope with it
